The Ombudsman: The Tax Agency’s special telephone number for non-digital citizens is a good initiative

Publiceret 06-10-2026

As part of his investigation of the Danish Tax Agency’s telephone services, the Ombudsman has focused his attention on, among other things, the Agency’s guidance of non-digital citizens.

In his investigation, the Ombudsman has asked about the Agency’s deliberations and initiatives in relation to the 2026 tax assessment notice period with a view to examining non-digital citizens’ access to relevant guidance from the tax authorities.

The Danish Tax Agency has replied, among other things, that in connection with its other guidance efforts, the Agency has this year set up a telephone number especially targeted at citizens who are exempt from Digital Post. Using this telephone number, citizens who are exempt from digital services can secure a place in the queue for guidance over the telephone.

‘In a time with increased digitalisation it is important that the authorities can also offer help and guidance to those who need to access this in different way. The Danish Tax Agency’s new telephone number is a good initiative in that direction, which I hope is going to work for the citizens’, says Parliamentary Ombudsman Christian Britten Lundblad.

The Danish Tax Agency has informed the Ombudsman that details about the new telephone number will be communicated to the relevant target groups on a continuing basis.

The Ombudsman will follow the Danish Customs and Tax Administration’s efforts in relation to non-digital citizens, among other things in connection with his processing of complaints.
